Aria Automation version 8.18.1.36920 a.k.a 8.18.1 Patch 2, was released on 05-13-2025. This release contains bug fixes and resolves a few known issues, as well as resolving CVE-2025-22249. Check out the official release notes for all those resolved issues. And for more information on the vulnerabilities and their impact on VMware products, please see VMSA-2025-0008.
Logging into Aria Automation, I can click on the (?) icon in the top right and at the bottom of the flyout window, the version is listed:

For reference, go here to check on the build versions: https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?legacyId=2143850
I can see I am on version 8.18.1.36791, so I can apply the most recent patch file that will bring my Automation to version 8.18.1.36920. To make it easier, I’ll leverage Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager (ASLCM) to apply the patch.
First off I’ll go download the patch file: https://support.broadcom.com/web/ecx/solutiondetails?patchId=5850
I’ll grab the .patch version of the download to use in ASLCM:

Use WinSCP to upload the file to the ASLCM appliance, place it in the /data folder.
Pro tip: verify there’s enough disk capacity to store the patch files (Settings -> System Details), as this file is nearly 5GB, which is rather large. When accumulated, these files can eat up quite a bit of storage, so housekeeping is recommended and may be needed.

Once uploaded, I’ll go into ASLCM, navigate to Lifecycle Operations

Then click on Settings -> Binary Mapping

Once in Binary Mapping, I’ll click on Patch Binaries, then Add Patch Binaries

In the Source Location I’ll enter in “/data” since that’s where I placed the .patch file, then click Discover. Once ASLCM finds the file, then I’ll select the radio button and hit Add.

The upload request will then run and I’ll wait as it does it’s thing…

This is optional, but I when completed I like to go back to Settings -> Binary Mapping -> Patch Binaries, and I verify the patch is there. Easy enough to do by using the filters to find it…I filter by Name first, then sort by Version.

Looks good…now let’s get to that upgrade. I’ll navigate to Environments, then I’ll find my Aria Automation environment and click on View Details.

In my environment, after I uploaded the patch I’ll need to click the “kebab” then click on Patches -> Install Patch

Then I’ll select the radio button next to 8.18.1.36920, Cumulative Patch #2 -> Next

I’ll click Run Precheck, and the precheck will run…the errors I have here are known, since I run this in my lab, I will ignore the CPU and RAM issues.

And finally, I’ll click INSTALL

From here my Automation environment will begin to upgrade. There are two stages, and I’ll track the progress in the request details page.

The upgrade finished up and both stages completed, and Aria Automation is now upgraded.
That’s all for this blog! If you learned something or I helped you out in some way, please make a comment and let me know. Thanks!
